In the next Biolabs gathering, HKU welcomes participants for, Stay Connected to the Soil, a workshop and field trip exploring another key thread of the manifesto: that the lab is never confined to indoor space alone; we are always grounded in and connected through soil.

About the event
In the next Biolabs gathering, co-hosted by WdKA, HKU, and CARADT, HKU welcomes participants for, Stay Connected to the Soil, a workshop and field trip exploring another key thread of the manifesto: that the lab is never confined to indoor space alone; we are always grounded in and connected through soil.
Building on the interdisciplinary collaborations initiated through our collective, educators Shirley Niemans & Kas Houthuijs invite participants to further explore how HKU’s biolab is entangled with ecological processes, situated knowledge, and the living world beyond institutional walls. We will begin with an introduction to the lab space and its practices, approaching gardening as a regenerative and collective learning methodology.
From there, we will cycle together to nearby Amelisweerd in Bunnik, where students from the Biodesign Challenge programme will guide us through the area and share their ongoing research. In the woods of Amelisweerd, participants will take part in hands-on…
