About the event
During the Compos(t)ing Symposium in 2025, the workgroup Living Material Practice addressed regenerative design and the urgent need for non-extractive ways of making. Recognising that art and design practices often have a significant environmental impact, we explored what regenerative making could truly mean and how to translate regenerative thinking into everyday educational (making) practices. A Biolab manifesto was shaped during this session.
We will continue this work through three gatherings in 2026, jointly hosted by the Biolabs of WdKA, HKU, and CARADT, each addressing a particular aspect of the manifesto. Rather than offering fixed models, we create space for shared inquiry and exchange. After each gathering, we will collectively expand the manifesto with practical examples, references, and tools, aiming to embed on regenerative principles in our daily workflows, facilities, and learning environments.
